England is part of the United Kingdom and is the seat of Power of the UK. It has had significant influence in the world since the 15th century. It is run by a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary system of government.
The climate in England is pretty mild with winter temperatures hovering around 32° F. It most likely will not exceed 90 °F in the summer. It is a fairly damp country with lots of rainfall. The coldest months to visit are January and February (big travel discounts during this time) and July is the warmest month. The months with mild to warm weather are May, June, September and October.
London is the largest urban area in all of England. I can tell you from experience that it is one of the busiest cities in the world. Traffic to our hotel near Tower Bridge was pretty bad. It took us almost 2 hours to get from the airport to our hotel. My suggestion to you is to arrange pre-paid travel through a shuttle company for a flat rate to your destination. Imagine what a 2 hour taxi ride would cost?
If you plan to stay in London renting a car is definitely not necessary. London has some of the best transportation systems in the world. The “Underground” can get you pretty much anywhere you want to go.
A big stop for my family was the Harry Potter Studio Tour near Watford. That required us taking the “Overground” from London Euston station to the Watford Junction Station. The journey only took about 20 minutes. Once at Watford Junction, shuttle buses operated by Mullany’s Coaches take you to the Studio Tour with a travel time of 15 minutes. There is no fee to get there but there is a £2.50 return fee and they only accept cash. The last bus leaves about 20 minutes before closing time of the Studio Tour. Closing times vary by day but range from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
